In 1984 a group of parents got together around a vision to provide quality Christian education for their children. As a result, Cornerstone Christian College was founded in 1986 with a total of 17 students enrolled. Today Cornerstone is a fully integrated co-educational K-12 Christian college with approximately 540 students. Featuring modern facilities, Cornerstone delivers a proven academic program by combining a Christ centred curriculum with high quality education; developing award winning students and strong leaders with character and integrity that are critical thinkers, able to serve others, engage with their community, critique their world and make a positive difference to society. Since its founding in 1986, there has been a strong focus on the importance of working in partnership with parents, based on a mutual understanding of a shared responsibility for the education of the children. Cornerstone has likewise been very intentional in fostering and sustaining a close knit community, reflected in a strong sense of connectedness and ownership. Today this is one of the great hallmarks of the College. Since 2003 Cornerstone has operated with an open enrolment policy, meaning that anyone can enrol and attend the College; regardless of gender, religious beliefs, and socio-economic, ethnic and/or cultural background. However, as a Christian College, Cornerstone was founded upon and continues to operate according to a strong Christian ethos. The Christian worldview and faith is part of our very DNA and as such, this is a non-negotiable element.
